UPS recently announced that it will be adding a Fill Container Load (FCL) to its China to Europe transportation network. The new addition is the latest in a series of expansion methods that have been implemented into UPS’s worldwide services, offering its customers a wider choice for their shipping needs.

Vice President for Freight Forwarding for UPS Europe, Jens Poggensee, has commented: “Our customers are looking to UPS for solutions that help them better manage their inventory and reach new markets while balancing the costs of doing business. We are excited to add a rail solution for our European customers to complement our existing ocean and air freight and package capabilities in one of the world’s largest freight lanes. Customers can now enjoy access to a broader transportation portfolio to better meet their business needs.”

The new rail service will be available on two routes, running from Chengdu, China to Lodz, Poland, and from Zhengzhou, China to Hamburg, Germany. The service is due to be up to 50% quicker than UPS’s ocean freight and up to 70% more cost-effective compared to its air freight services. The combinations of the new rail service integrated with UPS’s existing freight and truck network will provide an overall faster, more effective service.
