UPS has recently announced its Sustainability Report for the 12th year running, reporting that it had reduced its overall carbon emissions for 2013, in addition to meeting its 2016 goal of decreasing its air and ground fleet’s carbon emissions by 10%. Having met its 2016 goal 3 years early, the parcel delivery giant has set a new goal to reach a 20% reduction in carbon intensity by 2020.

The recent report illustrates UPS’s continuous efforts to increase sustainability using its “Committed to More” method. While sustainability is usually referred to as doing less, the American parcel delivery company has committed itself to providing more for its customers and the environment.

Scott Davis, UPS Chairman and Chief Executive Officer has commented: “As a global logistics company dependent on vehicles and fuel to move nearly 17 million packages and documents a day, sustainability and growth are inextricably linked.” Davis added: “Our ability to grow our global shipping volumes and reduce total carbon emissions should be a signal to [the] business that it is possible to do more for the environment while also serving more customers and adding more value.”
