American parcel giant UPS has reported a 7.2% rise in its global package shipments during the second quarter of 2014 due to its growth in e-commerce shipping and global package shipments. The impact of shipments to Europe has resulted in a 6.2% increase in international package revenues of approximately $3.3 billion over the three month time scale.

The US based company saw its export shipments rise by 9.1% over the previous year throughout various regions of the world. Europe was in front, with daily shipments gaining more than 13%, with Asia gained a more impressive 6%.

UPS has said: “Rapid shipment growth in Europe caused UPS to purchase additional short-term capacity at a premium from local service partners. As a result, the company experienced increased delivery and network expenses during the quarter.”

UPS Forwarding reached operating profit growth with double-digits, stating that its North American air freight, brokerage and ocean freight were “offset somewhat by a drop in international air freight” with its “market pricing in the key Asia to US lane continues to put pressure on rates.”
