Air France-KLM has continued to suffer cargo revenue losses as it looks to reduce its freighter fleet even further. The company’s revenue for the first six months of 2014 was 1.34 billion Euros – a 4.3% reduction compared to the revenue earned over the same period of the previous year.

The company’s current air fleet stands at 18, with only 14 being currently operational. October of 2013 saw Air France-KLM cut its Amsterdam situated freighters by 8. Air France currently has parked an Airbus A320 and Martinair, one Boeing 747-400 Extended Range Freighter and two Boeing 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighters.

During July this year, it was reported that the group was considering selling its all-cargo airline, Martinair which is based in Amsterdam. It was reported the group was looking to “further reduce its Amsterdam-based full-freighter exposure either through a partnership with a third party or through internal restructuring.”

The group has reduced its freighter capacity by 8.6% during its second quarter. Overall, the company’s first half revenue was 12 billion Euros, this being a 1% increase on 2013. The group has said it predicts a “tough operating outlook” for the rest of 2014.
