UPS is to introduce the addition of two new package distribution facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, USA. The two new buildings will be leased, with modifications to allow them to serve as distribution facilities and be integrated to UPS’s network to address growth in package volumes.

President of the Red River District, Craig Wiltz, has said: “UPS continues to see growth in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. These two new buildings increase our ability to address the rapid expansion of residential and commercial demand and significantly increase our employee base in the area.”

With the nickname ‘Independence’, one of the new buildings is due to be located in the Alliance development of Fort Worth. The new 495,000 square-foot building is expected to create over 300 package handler jobs, in addition to over 50 tractor trailer driver positions. The ‘Independence’ facility will feature modernised sorting technology, accompanied by computerised planning technology. The building’s technology will provide UPS with the ability to flexibly balance high volumes and other demands.

The second new building will be located in McKinney, Texas, with 120 new jobs being introduced. UPS expect the 215,000 square-foot hub to also bring in over 200 part-time jobs to the area by 2017.

UPS are anticipating the new buildings and its modifications are to be completed by November of this year, in time for the holiday period.
