FedEx to increase its shipping rates

FedEx Express, FedEx Ground and FedEx Freight, the subsidiaries of FedEx Corp. are due to increase shipping rates with this becoming effective as of January 5th, 2015.

FedEx Express is expected to increase its shipping rates by an average of 4.9% regarding its US domestic, US export and US import services. Meanwhile, FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery will also be increasing its rates by 4.9%, with FedEx SmartPost also expected to see some changes.

The rate change for FedEx Freight will have an effect to shipments within the US, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Island.

During May of this year, FedEx announced that it will apply dimensional weight pricing to all FedEx Ground shipments; this change is expected to take effect also on January 5th, 2015.
