US parcel delivery company UPS is due to buy Polish healthcare logistics company, Poltraf Sp. z.o.o. UPS has said it will strengthen its healthcare expertise as a result of buying the company, after agreeing terms with owner ORTIE for an undisclosed amount. The recent deal is said to increase product supply services for the ever-growing healthcare markets within Central and Eastern Europe. UPS is said to be looking to close the deal in early 2015.

Located in Blondie, close to Warsaw in central Poland, Poltraf has been providing healthcare logistics services for nearly a decade. The company’s track record includes temperature sensitive warehousing and transport. UPS is due to gain three warehouse facilities, which will add to its already existing network of 14 healthcare facilities situated in Europe currently.

Cindy Miller, President of UPS Europe, has said: “Poltraf complements our mainland Europe expansion plan and we are now able to provide healthcare companies access to a single source for logistics solutions across the continent, helping to achieve greater supply chain efficiencies and compliance with relevant guidelines.”

Moreover, Piotr Krol, CEO of Poltraf commented: “This is a very positive development for our company, our employees, and our customers. Joining forces with UPS will allow us to continue to provide high-quality logistics services to our customers and broaden our reach by leveraging UPS’s global distribution network. We look forward to creating even greater value for our customers.”
