UPS to build new healthcare facility to expand European growth

UPS recently announced its plans to build a new healthcare distribution facility in Roermond, the Netherlands. The new facility is expected to be 28,000 square metres in size to take growing demand into consideration.

The Roermond facility is part of UPS’s plan to expand its services, with a scheduled finish date of January 2016. It has been said that up to 200 jobs will be created as a result of the new facility which offers short transit times to global destinations due to its close location to UPS’s European air hub.

The building will be able to provide inventory management, temperature-sensitive storage and quality assurance services, as well as extending the company’s global healthcare distribution network which now covers over 50 locations throughout Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North/South America.

President for UPS West Europe, Harld Peters, has said: “This third dedicated healthcare facility in the logistics-and transportation-centric area of Limburg significantly strengthens the capacity of UPS’s European distribution campus.” Peters continued: “It allows shippers to comply with international healthcare quality standards and serve a broad customer base, either directly through UPS’s global express transportation network or via UPS satellite healthcare facilities in other European countries, such as Spain, Italy, Poland or Hungary.”
