Flatulent goats force plane to land in Indonesia

An air freighter carrying a cargo of 2,186 goats may have been forced to land after accumulated goat farts set off the smoke alarm.

The Singapore Airlines Boeing 747 freight carrier was transporting the goats from Sydney, Australia, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was forced to make an unscheduled stop in Denpasar, Indonesia, when the smoke alarm was triggered. In the absence of smoke or fire, it is speculated that this was due to the goats’ methane-rich exhaust gases and manure.

Singapore Airlines state that they are unable to confirm the cause—the goat blame may have been taken up by the media.
