Air freight forwarding
The most common type of air freight shipping involves the transportation of household goods. This includes furniture and other such items. As these items do not require special handling, they can be transported quickly, depending upon the type of delivery service selected.
The next category has been named the support class. This category covers the transportation of items that require express delivery. The items in this classification are generally small items like letters and small packages. The small size of the items makes them easier to handle and they are generally packaged in the company’s customised packing.
The next category is known as parcel or ground shipment. The items that are classified under this category are generally heavy objects and the shipments of these items take longer than the previously mentioned categories. The weight of the items in this category is usually below 70 pounds but it will not exceed 100 pounds.
Parcels whose weight exceeds a hundred pounds are not dispatched via air. The preferred mode of transportation for them is by road or rail.
The cost or rate of air freight is determined on the basis of the type of parcel, the destination, the urgency of the delivery, the category of service and last but not the least, the service provider themselves.
