Some tips on how to package your parcel (Part 1)
To achieve this you can either decide to use your own packaging materials, or you can order them along with your courier delivery services. This can take the form of reinforced, double-walled cardboard boxes which come in two standard sizes.
The parcel delivery specialists DHL have put together some guidelines to bear in mind when packaging your parcel.
Therefore, when undertaking this task you need to:
• Look at the content being sent and choose the size of the package accordingly. You wouldn’t want a box to burst if overloaded or collapse if under-filled.
• Consider only using high quality materials to package your shipment, with cushioning, durability and strength being top priorities when making selections on wrapping supplies.
• Go for corrugated cardboard boxes which have high quality outer lining. For valuable items, use double layer heavy duty board.
• Stop your contents from moving within the parcel by making good use of cushioning materials.
• Think about using strapping, where appropriate, as this can secure and seal the box. Strong tape is a good alternative.
