Worldwide expansion plans for FedEx
In addition to the announcement that a new service is to be launched in Northern Ireland, a new centre is also in development in France. The 2,400 square metre sized facility in Strasbourg will employ a staff of 20.
FedEx has also explained that it will connect with its European hub located at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle, along with its operations at Basel Airport, close to the Swiss and German borders.
Dirk van Impe, FedEx’s managing director for France operations, said:
"Strasbourg is a dynamic, cosmopolitan city where both political and commercial spheres are truly European. We are excited about growing our presence and the benefits we can offer businesses here, such as later pick up times."
"For example, a company needing a next-day delivery by 3pm to a city in the East Coast of the US can tender their shipment as late as 5.30pm the day before."
Back in the United States, a $100million centre is under construction in North Carolina, following the recent addition of a facility in Butte, Montana.
