DHL starts logistics facility construction in Germany

The purpose-built 40,000 square metre building is being located near to the Dutch border to expand DHL’s European links. It is also well connected in terms of its access to the autobahn network.

DHL hope that the facility will make good use of environmental technologies as well as increasing their efficiency.

It has been announced that the development will lead to the creation of around 250 jobs.

This new facility will be operational part way through 2012 and is to be used to distribute Primark products in Germany and expansion into other nearby countries. These fashion products will be dispatched in cartons, with hanging garment racking also being utilised at the site.

Primark’s supply chain director, Martin White, said of the partnership:

“We chose DHL as our logistics partner for a number of reasons – its comprehensive presence in Europe, the successful delivery of similar projects and its openness to our needs and requirements.”
