Revenues of football giant boosted by DHL sponsorship
This staggering rise for the quarter which finished on 30 September was mainly driven by the partnership with DHL. The agreement which was announced earlier this year means that the delivery company’s brand features on the official Manchester United training kit for the next four years.
Back in August, the £40million deal was agreed, helping to contribute to the quarterly commercial revenue of £29.6million as revealed by the club. In addition to this, media revenue was also on the rise increasing from £19.4million to £22.6million as the club got to the final of the Champions League for the second time within the last three campaigns.
The high levels of debt at United stand at £433million however, so although the club’s revenue has increased to £73,8million, it still recorded pre-tax losses of £6.9million.
As the Premier League is now a global product, the courier firm DHL hopes that the wide coverage of the brand will ensure it gets a good return for its money.
