DHL look to a greener future
Blue Dart, which is part of the DHL Group, will be rolling out this new initiative in India to let their customers offset their carbon footprint by agreeing to pay above their agreed delivery rate. The actual amount will be determined according to the package, weight and the distance it has to travel.
SVP & Area Director for DHL Express, South Asia, Malcolm Monteiro, said:
"As a socially responsible organization, we firmly believe in striking the right balance between economic benefits and environmental responsibility. This new GOGREEN Carbon Neutral Service will allow customers to be our co-stakeholders in ensuring a cleaner, safer, environment and do their bit towards ensuring a carbon neutral shipment. Since the launch of the environment protection program in 2008, we have seen a lot of interest evinced by customers who already have sustainability on their agenda. Through this roll-out in India, we will enable customers to be responsible social citizens."
The service will be rolled out across the complete portfolio of domestic and international DHL Express products which are fulfilled by Blue Dart. This is just one of a number of schemes run by leading courier companies that are now realising that they have to do their bit to protect the environment.
