FedEx makes exception to ensure safe journey for rescued dogs

Over a hundred dogs had been recovered from a truck by state agents and handed to the American Humane Association, with the owners facing charges of animal cruelty.

FedEx agreed to send forty of the rescued animals on a first class flight taking them to Miami, Florida, with the rest going to rescue shelters in nearby counties.

This move delighted the AHA as they now have high hopes that the dogs will be adopted by people who will care for them and look after them. All the animals have now had vaccinations, while being spayed and neutered.

The express shipping company was willing to break its strict rules on this occasion to send the dogs to be rehoused.

Speaking on behalf of FedEx, Shea Leordeanu said:

"Normally, FedEx does not move pets. That is a very strict policy that we have, so this is a one-time exception. Because it's here in Memphis with our world headquarters in the backyard, how could we say no to these little guys?

"It's a relief that we know where these guys are going to be before we leave."
