DHL to continue partnership with HSE24
As part of the contract terms, DHL will become the sole logistics partner for Home Shopping Europe from mid-2013 and will take on warehousing operations for products which had been outsourced since 2010.
The renewing of the deal has lead to expansion of the DHL logistics centre in Greven, Germany. This is due to be completed by the October of 2013, providing the international courier with a centralised warehouse from which it can operate its logistics chains and manage goods. All shipments will be sent through the DHL parcel centre which is adjacent to where these premises will be.
The warehousing space and handling areas are due to be expanded by at least twice their current size. Once the renovation work is completed, over 250,000 garments will be able to be stored on hangers in the location, while around 84,000 orders will be processed every day.
Head of service and operations at HSE24, Koen Verbrugge, said:
"Our priority is delivering to our customers quickly and dependably. It requires efficient order processing as well as provisions for the specific needs of our type of business. DHL's logistics concept combines the best of automated and manual logistics processes to create the ideal solution."
