FedEx Express to focus on consolidating training operations

A new facility is due to be built near to its existing premises on Airways Boulevard in Memphis, Tennessee. This site is mainly used for the training of flight crews and this will continue to be the case with the new development.

The courier company, which employs over 144,000 across the globe, is hoping that consolidating these activities by creating an Air Operation Training Center will mean that it will be the place where flight simulations and training devices can provide a long term solution.
At the moment, some of this equipment is leased and licensed from other organisations and is scattered throughout the Shelby County area.

In accordance with these consolidation plans, a new building, complete with 12 bays will be built to store all these assets which are invaluable to training the FedEx flight crews.

At the existing Airways facility, it is expected that 333 jobs will be retained on this site.
