FedEx trials more sustainable energy option for delivery

This specially made version of the NV200 van was used to deliver parcels around the capital, with the successful UK trial period ending with donations to the HQ of British Red Cross being delivered by the courier on behalf of both organisations.

The electric prototype van is seen as the future for parcel delivery and as it is battery powered there are zero emissions, making it an environmentally friendly choice.

FedEx Express matched the donations to the charity collected by the employees of the car manufacturer and took the funds raised to the British Red Cross in the electric van they had been test driving.

William Martin, Managing Director of Ground Operations UK, FedEx Express EMEA, said:

"At FedEx Express, we have a longstanding tradition and commitment to disaster relief and environmental sustainability. Around the world, we provide in-kind transportation and philanthropic donations supporting humanitarian efforts to communities that need it most.

"We are delighted we could strengthen our collaboration with Nissan over this two month period on the electric vehicle front and co-donate to the deserving and notable Disaster Fund of the British Red Cross."
