The ocean and air freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL, DHL Global Forwarding is due to handle the transatlantic transport of spare parts and tools for Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services GmbH. The freight specialist company is due to assist as a result of annual volume increases up to 25,000 shipments per year with a total weight of 550 tonnes.

Andreas Meisel, Managing Director of Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services (LTLS) has said: “Optimising supply chains has become one of the key objectives in many industries; in the aviation industry this also includes Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) areas. With DHL Global Forwarding we have found a partner that has the necessary know-how and, with its global presence, the ability to tailor its solution to meet our needs.”

DHL will also provide LTLS with the use of its freight control tower, supporting the company with its highly developed IT infrastructure. It’s IT control tower has the ability to control all transport flows, optimising the processes based on detailed shipment flow analysis, reducing costs and being closely coordinated with LTLS’s flow management.
