UPS has recently announced the official opening of its expanded facility at Incheon International Airport. Occupying over 9,000 square metres of space, the new hub is situated at the airport’s Cargo Terminal Area and is said to be increased in size by 60%, allowing the parcel delivery company to heighten its import, export and trans-shipment capability by an impressive 50%.

The new hub is equipped with the latest in new-edge technologies, with an infrastructure which is anticipated to strengthen UPS’s support of Korean businesses which want to expand trade within key growth markets. Operating the new Auto Sorting System, the hub expects its inspection delay times to reduce significantly.

JK Rah, Managing Director of UPS Korea, has said: “Ranked 8th in terms of global trade volume during the first six months of 2014, according to the Institute for International Trade, Korea continues to be an important global trade centre, connecting Asia to the rest of the world.” Rah also added: “Our investments in technologies and expanded space at Incheon International Airport bring greater operational efficiencies that also reduce potential shipment delays. UPS’s customers from Korea and other parts of the world can benefit immediately from the enhancements, enabling them to complete in the global marketplace.”

Expanding its hub is part of UPS’s plan of long-term commitment in furthering towards building an improved and integrated logistics network across Asia Pacific.
