Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) within the USA is to propose fines of between $54,000 and $195,000 against companies British Airways, FedEx, Linvin and Allied Technology Group for the supposed infringement of hazardous materials regulations.

The FAA is due to fine airline company, British Airways, with a staggering $195,000 fine after the revelation it offered to transport a chemical oxygen generator. The FAA has since discovered the generator was not declared as hazardous materials. British Airways has said: “We are co-operating with the FAA and have requested a meeting.”

Moreover, FedEx is facing a £65,000 fine as it comes to light an employee unsuitably accepted a shipment containing two one-gallon cans of Tuffy Fsat Dry F.F. Blue Paint earlier this year, which leaked during its journey to Fort Smith, USA. The FAA has said the FedEx employee in question failed to properly inspect the package. FedEx has said: “FedEx safely and reliably transports millions of items classified as dangerous goods every year. FedEx made the proper notification to the FAA when the incident occurred. At no time was the safety of the public or our team at risk.” FedEx are due to meet with the FAA to discuss the case in October this year.

Linvin is also to face a hefty $57,600 fine as it is revealed an employee passed a shipment containing denatured alcohol and an aerosol of dust removing spray, both highly flammable items. The Transport Security Administration discovered the prohibited items on the Austin bound flight back in April this year. Linvin is due to discuss the case with FAA.

Allied Technology is due to receive a $54,000 fine as result of it offering an electrical coating can on a flight to Las Vegas, USA. The flammable product was discovered at Rick Husband Airport. The company in question has requested to meet the FAA to discuss the case further.
