Deutsche Post DHL and UK Mail have agreed to the terms of a recommended cash offer for DHL’s acquisition of the UK company.

UK Mail is one of the UK’s largest integrated mail and parcel courier services, with more than 50 sites and a fleet of 2,400 vehicles. Deutsche Post DHL believes the acquisition will help to improve its network coverage of the UK, which is its largest ecommerce market.

The offer is dependent on the approval of UK Mail’s shareholders, as well as the UK court and the European Commission, which will both need to give it clearance.

Under DHL, UK Mail will benefit from access to DHL’s network, resources and logistical capabilities, while DHL will gain additional volumes through UK Mail. The deal presents opportunities for UK Mail to gain additional business from DHL’s vast consumer base.

This will strengthen DHL’s position not only in the UK market, but in Germany and France too, which together account for around 60% of all online retail in Europe.
