TNT Express relocates air cargo operations to Berlin Brandenburg Airport
Yesterday, TNT Express announced that it is going to relocate its air cargo operations for Berlin to Berlin Schönefeld – the future location of the new Berlin Brandenburg “Willy Brandt” Airport.
The courier and air freight services provider considered this step crucial for future operations, especially since Berlin Tegel (TXL) is going to be closed in 2013. In addition to that, TNT Express will also move its main air cargo depot in Berlin-Charlottenburg to a new facility whose location has not been specified yet.
According to TNT, customers sending shipments from Germany to Polen will benefit from the new regional Air Gateway as TNT Express, which will be in close proximity to major motorways. According to the carrier, this will also have a positive effect on delivery and collection times.
The new Berlin Brandenburg Airport has not been opened yet because of fire safety issues. However, TNT Express confirmed that this delay would not affect the upcoming move.
