Spain’s national postal service, Correos, delivered more than 106 million parcels in 2018, a 61% rise from its 2017 figures.
10.5 million of these parcel deliveries were made in November and 13.2 million in December, a rise of 22% across the peak season compared to the year before.
The monthly average for Correos was 9 million parcels per month. Subsidiary Correos Express averaged around 5 million parcels per month, with a total of 59 million shipments for the year, an increase of 16.3%.
This rapid growth is attributed to the expanding e-commerce market. Almost 80% of Spain's parcel shipments are domestic, but over 20% are imports from the USA, China, Japan and the rest of Europe.
