Asendia, a joint venture between La Poste and Swiss Post—the postal operators of France and Switzerland respectively—has announced plans to offset 100% of its carbon emissions.

Until now, Asendia has offset emissions for its international transport operations, both within Europe and between the continents.

In 2020, the company offset 50,990 tonnes of carbon dioxide. Its figures for 2021 have not yet been released.

However, starting this year it will be extending its offsetting to all transport emissions, including operational emissions from collections, last-mile deliveries and returns, and from buildings, machinery and employee business travel.

Emissions will be offset through EcoAct-verified renewable energy projects, including the Gaolin wind farm in China, a country that still uses coal for 70% of its energy needs.
