As of today, FedEx Freight will be opening a new container freight station, situated in its Chicago Summit. The new facility is set to combine and organise freight where its destination is Puerto Rico.

Shipments that will be travelling to Puerto Rico from Chicago Summit will move five times within a week. This service is expected to benefit those who are shipping to Puerto Rico from North America, Canada and Mexico.

Vice President of International at FedEx Freight, Grant Crawford, has said; “The container freight station in Chicago Summit is a key location in our network to better serve the needs of our customers. This more centralised location will help improve transits and rates for many Puerto Rico shipments.”

The opening of the freight station within Chicago will be one of more than 360 facilities due to open across the north of America. Freight that is due for Puerto Rico will be processed and sorted at the FedEx Freight hub in Newark, New Jersey.
