DPD UK has revealed its plans to introduce its own network of parcel shops with operations beginning on June 1st 2015. The parcel delivery firm is to introduce DPD PickUp which will see online shoppers being able to have purchases delivered to their local DPD PickUp point. This service will be an option for customers to select DPD PickUp point during the checkout process as an alternative to home delivery.

DPD UK Chief Executive, Dwain McDonald, has said: “We know that some customers cannot be home for deliveries and they currently use our in-flight options to leave parcels with a specific neighbour or in their chosen safe place, but DPD PickUp will give them another option."

DPD UK is said to have already hiring potential staff for the new DPD PickUp headquarters located at Etruria Office Village, Stoke-on-Trent. The parcel delivery company is planning to create a 60,000 square foot “super depot” which will create 92 new jobs. Construction of the new depot is to begin in February for completion the following September.
