The Independent Pilots Association, the union that represents the 2,500 pilots of delivery company UPS, has called for a strike vote. This happens as contract negotiations drag on into a fifth year.
If the vote is a “yes”, the Association will request a release from federal mediation on the matter, which will allow them to strike. They had previously sought mediation after reaching an impasse with negotiations.
Whether or not a strike actually happens, the risk of it could mean disruption for UPS if shippers are concerned about their operations during peak holiday season.
