FTA encourages young people to pursue careers in logistics

The Freight Transport Association (FTA) in the UK has become a sponsor of the "Think Logistics" initiative, encouraging young people between 16-19 years of age to consider careers in the logistics industry.

The initiative is a response to a skills shortage in the industry, particularly with regards to professional drivers, whose numbers are falling short of requirement by about 60,000, according to the FTA.

The FTA’s sponsorship will last three years and will fund workshops in local schools and colleges, as well as providing training programmes and courses. They will work with national charity Career Ready.
