The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released data for global air freight markets, showing that total air cargo volumes in October are 1.1% lower than the peak of 2014, and that they have risen just 0.5% since October last year.

North American carriers reported a fall in volumes of 2.4%, Latin America 8.1% and Africa 1.1%. The Middle East reported growth of 8.3%, though this is below their average performance this year.

For most in the industry, the news comes as no surprise. However, recent improvements in air cargo growth, within the last couple of months, had stoked some optimism.
