FedEx had to warn its customers of potential delivery delays after record-breaking rainfall at its Memphis International Airport hub. The company also had difficulties with their information technology.

More than 100 FedEx flights out of Memphis were delayed due to extensive flooding, according to alerts posted by the company, with a knock-on effect on parcel deliveries due March 11th.

The National Weather Service recorded 4.53 inches of rainfall for March 9th and 3.43 inches for March 10th, both new records at the airport for these dates.

FedEx alluded to problems with their IT systems “across several areas”, compounded by the impact of flooding.

However, a spokesman for Memphis International Airport did not report any issues as a result of the weather.
