Deutsche Post has appointed Tim Scharwath as the new CEO of its DHL Global Forwarding, Freight division. Scharwath is expected to join the company within the next 12 months.

Scharwath recently departed his global air freight role at Kuhne + Nagel International (K+N), a rival of DHL’s. He reported that he was leaving the company in pursuit of a new challenge.

Prior to his executive role, Scharwath held several management positions over 20 years in K+N, including regional president and regional senior vice president in west Europe and central Europe respectively. During this time the company’s air freight business came to rank second in the world.

Until Scharwath joins DHL, the CEO of the Deutsche Post DHL Group, Frank Appel, will remain responsible for the Global Forwarding, Freight division.
