DHL has opened up a new $10 million international facility for air shipments at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago. Once development of the facility is completed, it is expected to be the largest cargo facility constructed at a US airport in over ten years.
The facility measures 54,00 square feet and is designed to allow for faster inbound and outbound processing of shipments, capable of handling over 4,500 parcels and pallets every hour.
It will help the company keep apace of continued growth in e-commerce, expediting shipments across the Midwest region during the peak November-December holiday season.
DHL already has its largest DHL Global Forwarding facility located at O’Hare, alongside several other facilities in Chicago.
