Golden Globe Race competitor Susie Goodall revealed her refurbished boat—the DHL Starlight—at the London Boat Show last week.
The Golden Globe Race is a 48,000km non-stop race around the world’s oceans. Goodall is one of the youngest competitors in 2018, and the only woman among the thirty sailors taking part.
DHL is Goodall’s sponsor and provided logistics support for the boat’s refurbishment, including the delivery of parts such as solar panels and watertight doors from around the world.

The name of the boat was decided through a competition open to DHL customers and employees.
The 2018 race will recreate a famous race from history: the 1968/9 Sunday Times Golden Globe Yacht Race, in which Sir Robin Knox-Johnston—who turned 30 during the race—accomplished the very first solo, non-stop circumnavigation of the world. The yachts and equipment in the 2018 race are expected to be similar to those used 50 years ago, without satellite aid or other modern technology.
The race will begin and end at Les Sables d’Olonne, France, traversing the five Great Capes.
