More about containerised ocean freight services (Part 1)
When you make your booking you will need to provide information about the items you are sending. These include a full description of what goods need to be shipped, how many of these items there are, and what their gross weight is. The dimensions of the package are also important considerations.
Once you have given this necessary information, you will also need to let the ocean freight service know the full name and address of the consignee, as well as their telephone and fax number – this is especially vital when it relates to PO boxes.
If the booking is confirmed and all is correct, they will then arrange for the freight to be collected. When the vessel has set sail, the Bills of Lading will be forwarded on to you along with details of the overseas agent. A customs pre-entry form can also be completed on your behalf, for an additional fee.
