DHL agrees contract with academic publisher
The highly-regarded international courier will now be taking responsibility for deliveries throughout Europe, in addition to Africa and the Middle East.
This five-year contract means that DHL will also be managing other parts of the logistics operations. The firm will be receiving, storing and quality-checking publications from Northamptonshire-based Rushden Publishing. They will then be managing their order fulfilment which means shipping around eight million books per year.
Operations director at Cambridge University Press, Sandra Ward, said:
"The partnership with DHL will help us achieve a greater degree of flexibility, allowing us to respond to demands for both print and electronic products. In the long term, we are also looking to DHL to help us improve the overall efficiency of our supply chain management."
Cambridge University Press is widely considered to be the oldest remaining publisher in the world as it has been in operation since 1584. The Deutsche Post DHL group run DHL, the world’s leading mail and logistics services provider.
