Deutsche Post DHL has recently revealed its plans to create thousands of new job positions over the forthcoming years. As sustainable growth within the parcel sector increases, the company is expecting a demand for labor equivalent of as many as 10,000 new job positions by the year 2020 in the parcel delivery sector. Deutsche Post DHL also expects the total of jobs to increase even further to 20,000 by 2025.

As a result of the expansion, new parcel delivery companies are to be initiated under the DHL “umbrella”. These new companies are due to recruit suitable employees as part of the increase. Staff working for the newly introduced companies will be employed in line with the regionally applied terms and conditions for the forwarding and logistics sector.

Board Member Jürgen Gerdes has said: “For many years, we have been guaranteeing that everyone in Germany can benefit from a postal infrastructure which is, even by international standards, of exceptional quality – whilst also offering by far the best working conditions in our industry.” Gerdes continued: “In light of the significant discrepancy in wage costs with our competitiors, we are however not able to realise this with the existing wage structure. Whilst giving our parcel business a strong, future-proof foundation, these new companies afford us the opportunity to create new, attractive and…permanent jobs…”
