FedEx announced last week its plans to buy TNT Express for a staggering $4.8 billion. It has been said that the purchase will not only boost FedEx’s overall size, but also increase their presence in the ever changing and growing e-commerce sector.
FedEx is scheduled to build a new 183,000 square foot facility in Albuquerque in the attempt to boost its processing capabilities in preparation. The new facility is to replace two of existing buildings which provided a combined space of 75,000 square feet.
It has been said that e-commerce is growing with the United States over recent years, with total e-commerce sales for 2014 being estimated at $304.9 billion, an increase of more than 15% on 2013.
