Two-year-old Brooklyn Faris was desperately in need of a liver transplant. Brooklyn suffers from Alagille syndrome, a genetic condition that affects the liver and heart due to abnormalities of the bile ducts.

But when she found a transplant match, she faced another obstacle: the donor was 500 miles away from her home in Memphis, Tennessee, in Chicago, where all flights had been cancelled due to a storm.

That’s when FedEx stepped in, after someone from Brooklyn’s community contacted them. FedEx transported Brooklyn, and her adoptive parents Jessie and Nicholas, in a corporate jet that was ready for them at the airport within 30 minutes.

Brooklyn made it on time for her seven-hour operation, and she now is on the path to recovery in Chicago’s Lurie Children’s Hospital

"Thankfully, we had the network and resources available to make it happen for this family in our hometown of Memphis," says Patrick Fitzgerald, FedEx’s senior vice president of integrated marketing and communications. "The entire FedEx family is pulling for a quick and full recovery for Brooklyn."
