TNT Express lands contract with LBAS

TNT Express has recently been given the opportunity to engage in a contract with Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (LBAS) which will see them transport mission-critical aircraft parts within Germany. The new partnership will see TNT Express collect parts from Bombardier’s warehouse located in Groß-Gerau of an evening, between the hours of 10pm and 11pm, and then deliver said parts to LBAS’ aircraft maintenance engineers and mechanics situated at Berlin Schoenefeld Airport the following morning, pre 6am.

TNT Express is under pressure to deliver the parts in a timely and efficient manner due to the employees at LBAS starting their work day at 6am. The timely delivery needs to be kept consistent to prevent the occurrence of “Aircraft on Ground” (AOG) situations – this is a term used to describe a problem has occurred that is serious enough to stop an aircraft from being able to fly.

The parcel delivery company has been chosen due to its ability to perform late collections and direct, daily road deliveries. Another advantage LBAS will have in using TNT will be due to the fact they can carry and handle shipments of various weights and sizes, from packages to parcels to pallets, including materials that are considered dangerous and hazardous.
