Unite Union members have voted to take strike action at Heathrow Airport on 1st December.

This includes airport workers such as campus security, fire fighters, airside workers and engineers.

Logistics companies have warned that this may impact the ability of shippers to submit or retrieve cargo for the 24-hour period. Carriers will attempt to use alternative hubs but there may be delays as Heathrow is used as the primary hub in the UK by most airlines.

While the current strike is only set for one day, strike action is also likely to take place on 14th, 17th and 18th December.

Additionally, there are reported delays at Shanghai airport in China due to a COVID-19 outbreak among cargo workers. There may be increased waiting times due to due the requirement that all truck drivers entering the terminal have valid coronavirus test documentation.
