From 1st July 2023, retailers trading outside Jersey who sell goods to consumers in Jersey, and whose sales exceeds £300,000 per annum, will have to register and account for the Jersey Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Retailers will need to apply GST at the point of sale. If not applied at the point of sale, goods will be subject to this tax at the point of import if the total shipment value is more than £60 - a threshold that has been reduced from £135 and will eventually be removed altogether.

The purpose of the new legislation is to mirror similar rules regarding VAT in the UK and the EU, enabling high street retailers in Jersey to be more competitive.

More information is available on the Jersey government website.
