DHL Supply Chain has just announced a new 5-year agreement with easyJet, marking a significant step forward in their partnership.

This latest contract will see DHL take charge of ground handling operations at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. It builds on their successful collaboration that began in 2017, when DHL was entrusted with managing easyJet's ground operations at London's Gatwick Airport.

Under the terms of the new contract, DHL will provide comprehensive customer service and operational support at Liverpool Airport, including check-in, bag-drop, baggage logistics, and gate management. In a bid to enhance sustainability and efficiency, DHL will also introduce new electric equipment, aiming to transition to a 90% electric fleet by September 2024. This approach includes equipment such as electric steps, belts, and pushback tugs.

Moreover, DHL is investing in the skills and expertise of its workforce. Staff will undergo specialist training to operate the new electric equipment safely and effectively, as part of their goal of upskilling their workforce.

Following from their successful launches in 2020, DHL and easyJet have also decided to extend their collaboration at key airports in Bristol and Manchester for a further 5 years, reinforcing their commitment until 2029. Beyond ground operations, DHL also provides cabin cleaning services at Gatwick and Manchester Airports.

David Johnson, Vice President, Aviation & Travel, DHL Supply Chain, added: “We are committed to supporting easyJet with a flexible and evolving service that can match changing demands and pressures... we will also provide more sustainable solutions in line with our own GoGreen sustainability strategy.”

Furthermore, Valerie Geramon, Head of Group Operations Delivery, easyJet said, “We are delighted to be expanding our partnership at Liverpool John Lennon Airport to continue enhancing our customers’ experience.”
