The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has reported that air freight volumes stabilised in August, following a two month period of decline. The report is based on global data for air freight markets, broken down into regions.

Carriers in the Middle East saw the most significant growth at 10.4%, followed by African airlines at 2.3% and European at 0.7%.

Not everyone saw growth, however: volume for Asia-Pacific airlines contracted by 1%, North American airlines by 3.3%, and Latin American by 7.3%.

Total global volumes are still down 2% from the end of 2014, according to Tony Tyler, IATA’s Director General and CEO. He warns that the industry will have to work hard to achieve as strong a finish in 2015.
