Two days ago, Rolls-Royce received a major order from the Colombian air freight carrier, Avianca. The £180 million order includes the supply of four new Airbus A330 aircraft.

Last June, Avianca became part of the Star Alliance network which has 60 per cent of its wide-body aircraft manufactured by Rolls-Royce. The European air freight carrier already uses Rolls Royce’s famous Trent 700 engines for seven passenger A330s with an additional three aircraft arriving during the next few months.
“The Trent 700 is the most fuel-efficient cleanest and quietest engine for the Airbus A330 and we are pleased to extend the engine’s use to freight operations in the region”, said Fabio Villegas, president and chief executive at Avianca.
The contract was signed the Farnborough air show.
