Wrexham Council is installing four converted shipping containers to be used as homes for the homeless.

The homes are intended to provide support for those transitioning to long-term tenancy, but who may be facing difficulties due to addiction or other health problems.

Three of the homes will provide accommodation under a license agreement, while one is reserved for when the council activates its Severe Weather Emergency Protocol.

Each container has a kitchen, double bedroom, sitting area and shower.

The project follows similar initiatives in Cardiff, Newport and Bristol. The containers were supposed to be ready on time for Christmas, but there were reportedly delays relating to funding confirmation.

Wrexham currently has the second highest number of rough sleepers in North Wales.
