Home décor, gardening items and DIY equipment have been the most popular products for home delivery during the lockdown, according to a survey by Royal Mail.
41% of survey respondents had received home or garden items since 23rd March. Home entertainment products followed at 33%, fashion at 29%, and health and beauty products at 25%. Apparently it never hurts to look great for the neighbours!
Roughly one in five received orders of arts and crafts items, as people take up new creative hobbies, while 15% of respondents ordered paid subscription boxes.
Just over half of respondents said that online shopping gave them a “boost” during the lockdown, with 45% taking more parcel deliveries than they did before the lockdown was announced.
According to Essential Retail, the coronavirus pandemic may permanently change consumer behaviour with a greater emphasis on online shopping, even after the lockdown ends.
