DPD UK completes acquisition of Citysprint

DPD UK has finalised its acquisition of delivery company Citysprint. The merger will allow the companies to pool resources and expertise for next day and same day delivery services.

DPD first announced it was looking to acquire Citysprint in August 2021. It was then subject to regulatory approval from anti-trust authorities, which granted it in December.

According to Elaine Kerr, CEO of DPD UK: "This transaction makes genuine sense for both parties and we are delighted to have completed the acquisition. Same day delivery is one of the fastest growing segments of the logistics market and this deal will enable us to provide our customers with fantastic new services.”

Kerr linked the growth of same day delivery to the post-pandemic changes in consumer behaviour and increase demands for home delivery.

Citysprint’s network comprises over 30 service centres and more than 3,500 vehicles. It’s the UK’s largest privately-owned same day distribution company.
