“DHL Container Logistics is an excellent fit for our business, with complementary depots and customer base”, said John William, MD of Maritime.

Jeroen Eijsink, MD of DHL Freight said that he was delighted about the deal with Maritime and confident about the future of the container business.

Furthermore, DHL’s Day Definite express parcel service is going to be taken on by Home Delivery Network (HDN). The company agreed to take on 4,700 staff members of staff, five hubs and 71 service centres across the UK.

“It was important to us to divest our own parcel business to a company that we can trust”, confirmed Ken McCall, CEO of DHL Express UK. McCall also reiterated that DHL Express UK will continue to ensure the quality of their domestic parcel services.

Brian Gaunt, Chief Executive of HDN, welcomed the new business arm: “This transaction is great news for customers of both HDN and DHL Domestic. (…) Combining these businesses will enable us to offer our client a wider variety of propositions and more efficient service.”
